Have You Voted for the 2026 Pride with Purpose Shirt?

Voting is now open for the 2026 Pride with Purpose shirt design. Cast a vote for your favorite design by Friday, June 26. The winning shirt design will be released for purchase during Homecoming week. When you purchase the shirt, you support our general student scholarship fund and show your Huskie Pride.

NIU named Military Spouse Friendly® School

Northern Illinois University has achieved the honor of being a 2026-2027 Military Spouse Friendly® School. Since 2009, this list of schools has been a reliable resource for military spouses and has set a standard for higher education institutions to provide the best post-secondary education experiences for spouses of service members.

Earlier this year, NIU received a 2026-2027 Military Friendly® School Silver designation.

Our Office of Military and Veteran Services serves all veteran, active duty, reservists/guard members and their families. The office supports NIU’s student success initiatives by offering coaching appointments with student benefits counselors. These counselors are current military-connected students who provide support via one-on-one conversations.

MyNIU Student System Maintenance

The MyNIU Student System will be unavailable from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 due to system maintenance.

Have Some Fun at the Huskie Den this Summer!

The Huskie Den is open this summer, starting June 15 through Aug. 14.

The Huskie Den is open to all students, staff, faculty and community members.

It's very important to me to attend every single class. I worked hard to receive my scholarships, and I am going to do my best to get the most out of NIU. When I attend every class, everything fits into place. I can't imagine having to catch up after missing class. We move so quickly in most courses, so being in class ensures I never fall behind.

Monday, June 22: Last day for undergraduates to change a full session course from credit to audit or from audit to credit (Summer 2026)
Friday, June 26: Last day for undergraduates to add a full session course with approval from the offering department (Summer 2026)
Wednesday, July 15: Last day for undergraduates to add or drop second half-session course(s) via self-service in MyNIU (Summer 2026)
Thursday, July 16: Last day for undergraduates to change a second half-session course from credit to audit or from audit to credit (Summer 2026)
